Are you a school?
Does training make a difference?
Do you only work with models?
Will this interfere with school?
What time commitment is expected if JRP agrees to
work with me?
Does JRP accept everyone?
I have heard that if you want to be a model, agencies
will pay everything for you to start. Is this true?
In 1923, a young actor turned model created the first training company
of its kind. The “Powers Girl” was known as the epitome
of poise, posture, sophistication and social grace. Over two million
men and women of all ages are Powers graduates. Some of the famous
men include: Montgomery Clift, Cary Grant, Henry Fonda, Tyrone Powers,
and Gerald Ford.
Recent JRP graduates have appeared in numerous commercial campaigns,
including McDonald’s, Levi’s, Pepsi, Chevrolet, Revlon,
Home Depot and hundreds of others.
Our students have also won roles in TV series such as Las Vegas,
Even Stevens, Bernie Mac, All My Children, Days of Our Lives, Hope
and Faith, Charmed and many, many others. JRP alumni have made their
mark in the movies in such films as The Cat In The Hat, A.I., The
Hot Chick, From Justin To Kelly, Win A Date WIth Tad Hamilton and
many more.
For three quarters of a century our focus has remained on developing
individual potential so our students reach their highest goals in
modeling, acting, and LIFE!

Who
is John Robert Powers? |
| John
Robert Powers was an actor in New York City in the early 1900s.
One day he overheard an associate say he needed a group of
attractive people to pose for magazine advertisements. That’s
when Mr. Powers’ exceptional entrepreneurial skills
took over: he rounded up acting friends and trained them for
the advertisements. From that informal beginning Powers went
on to found the nation’s first modeling agency in 1923,
and the modern modeling industry was born. |

|
Are
you a school? |
| Yes,
and we are extremely proud of our record. For over 80 years,
we’ve helped our students earn and maintain a competitive
edge over their rivals in the entertainment industry. Famous
Hollywood stars still work with acting coaches because the
best-prepared candidates are the most successful-like JRP
graduates Faith Ford and Raquel Welch. |

|
Does
training make a difference? |
| All
the difference in the world. The entertainment industry is
fast-paced and constantly changing, and agents and directors
need faces and talent now. These busy professionals vastly
prefer a well-prepared candidate to one who lacks polish,
experience or training. |
| |
back

|
Do
you only work with models? |
| No. High fashion modeling has
very strict physical requirements, 5’8” and above
for women, 5’11” and above for men, and many otherwise
talented individuals cannot qualify. The fact is that over
80% of John Robert Powers’ students are actors, but
we also work with models, make-up artists, singers and dancers-anyone
who is a part of or preparing to enter the entertainment industry. |
| |

|
Will
this interfere with school? |
| No.
We believe that a solid academic foundation should be a young
person’s first priority. JRP’s policy is to work
only with those who strive for academic excellence. |
| |
back

|
What
time commitment is expected if JRP agrees to work with me? |
| Students
commit one day per week to development. Auditions or other
opportunities with agents, casting directors or other industry
professionals can occur, but usually just a few times a month. |
| |
back

|
Does
JRP accept everyone? |
| No. We are looking for people
with a high level of interest and dependability. When our
students meet top industry professionals their conduct is
a direct reflection of our training. Our relationships with
the best agencies and casting directors are excellent because
we are known for presenting only the most talented, enthusiastic
and professional candidates. |

I
have heard that if you want to be a model, agencies will pay
everything for you to start. Is this true? |
In
any career, training and marketing are an up-front investment
of time and money. The most successful models and talent will
tell you that the learning process never ends. In today’s
fast-paced environment, very few agencies in the world will
front costs necessary to begin a model’s career-there
ARE “discoveries”, but like lottery winners, they
are rare. The vast majority of professionals have to work
for their success.
At John Robert Powers, we give you the training, guidance
and confidence to help you attain your goals in the entertainment
industry. |

The First in the World; The Best in the World
A short history on the John Robert Powers School
System
Our
Founder, John Robert Powers. Author of 3 books on modeling
and personal growth
JOHN
ROBERT POWERS founded the modern day billion dollar modeling,
talent, and corporate training industry. From his many writings
and published books Mr. Powers created the curriculum that
is the core of the personality development, modeling and
other course offered at the worldwide network of John Robert
Powers Schools.
Mr. Powers believed that there is no such thing as an unattractive
person, just some people who do not know how to make the
most of themselves. He dedicated his life to helping people
to develop and take good advantage of their personalities.
Naturalness was his gospel. He encouraged his female students,
"don't make up, make down." Our schools still
believe and teach this philosophy. Be yourself. Be natural.
That is what our courses are all about.
It was during the 1920's that Mr. Powers came to New York
City with the hopes of becoming an actor. His business and
entrepreneurial skills led him elsewhere. He overheard an
associate say he wanted a group of attractive people to
pose for magazine advertisements. Powers rounded up acting
friends and trained them for these advertisements. The modern
modeling industry was born. He founded the first modeling
agency in 1923. Around the world the JOHN ROBERT POWERS
SCHOOL SYSTEM celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2003.
Fame
and fortune have come to many personalities who were
trained in the methods originated by Mr. Powers. First
Lady JACKIE KENNEDY, RAQUEL WELCH AND DIANA ROSS attended
Powers' schools. PRINCESS GRACE OF MONACO was a Powers
Model. Jennifer Jones, Ava Gardner, Barbara Stanwyck,
Lucille Ball, Lee Remick, Ann Margaret, Henry Fonda,
Tyrone Power were also Powers Models with the original
John Robert Powers Agency in New York City from the 1920's
through the 1940's.
The famous people of tomorrow are attending our schools
today.
We hope you will take advantage of a Powers course for a
better, happier, and more successful life.

very professional, responsible and have a very good style
when they come in to se me and I feel very good about sending
them to my clients.”
Paul Nelson – L.A. Models (Men’s Division)
“I
have been scouting talent from the John Robert Powers network
of schools for several years and I can think of no other
professional academy that is as successful and connected
to the industry as JRP. I’ve discovered several Powers
alumni who have gone on to exciting and promising careers
in the entertainment field including: Amy Acker, series
regular on the WB series, ‘Angel’, Aaron Griffith,
IMTA’s 2003 Male Model of the Year, Enyo Flack, Entertainment
Host and regular on Sci-Fi’s, ‘Black Scorpion’
series, Jonathen Angel, series star of ‘Saved By The
Bell: The Next Class’, and Brendan Ryan Barrett, star
of the ‘Casper’ movies and ABC series, ‘Soul
Man.’ All of these discoveries would not have been
possible without the assistance and guidance of the Directors
and Scouts at John Robert Powers.

CHRIS's
Letter to Colorado JRP:
I wanted to take this opportunity to provide feedback in
regards to my experience at JRP. During the three months
I have been impressed with the content and professionalism
provided by the organization. Classes have a lot of energy
and excellent instruction. The teachers have impressive
credentials and push each student beyond their comfort level,
while making the process a lot of fun. My job during the
week is very stressful and I find that JRP provides me with
an environment that relaxes me after a long hard week and
the opportunity to express myself in a complete way. I have
come to look forward to each Saturday because of my experience.
My children and I have gained increased confidence and a
fresh outlook on life because of our time at JRP. I would
highly recommend this organization to anyone looking for
an opportunity to develop and enhance skills that are key
for a successful life. Having fun is an added bonus.

Dear John Robert Powers
All
I can say is, “Thank you”! John Robert Powers
made my experience a great one. I have never seen such
an organized and professional staff like this one. Without
the help of this staff, my experience would not have been
as fun or fulfilling as it was. My advice for anyone who
is thinking about getting started in this industry is
John Robert Powers of San Ramon is the best way to go.
Going anywhere else just would not be the same.

LOS
ANGELES, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- In its continuing effort to
spot the latest trends and the next best thing, John Robert
Powers announced
today their sponsorship of Christian Audigier's latest clothing
line -- Ed Hardy Vintage Tattoo Wear.
John Robert Powers will sponsor the launch party for Ed Hardy
Vintage Tattoo Wear. The event will take place on Saturday, May
21st at Hollywood and Vine. This star studded event will feature
a guest list of 2,500 ranging from Christian's celebrity fans
such as Jessica Simpson, Bruce Willis, Paris Hilton, Naomi Campbell,
Kobe Bryant, and many others from film, television, music, fashion,
and sports. A fashion show will be the highlight of the party,
with clothes specifically designed by Christian Audigier. The
show will be a sexy disco themed fashion show merging Studio
54 with red carpet Hollywood meets California flair. The show
will include professional
models as well as Californian bikers, surfer dudes, and even gang
members.
Christian Audigier's brand has been described by many peers as
one that exemplifies talent, experience, and power. No stranger
to the fashion world, Christian Audigier has left his charismatic
and colorful mark on familiar brands such as Diesel, Levi's,
Liberto, and American Eagle. When Audigier joined a then unknown
company called Von Dutch as their head
designer, the brand name found itself transformed into a powerhouse
label that has now been seen and worn by celebrities and shoppers
on a global scale.
After leaving Von Dutch in August 2004, Audigier discovered a
marketing future in the legendary "godfather of modern tattoo" master,
Don Ed Hardy. Using unrivaled understanding of fashion and design,
Audigier created a lifestyle brand with the technical brilliance
and mesmerizing imagery of Hardy's work. With this unique blend
of visual appeal, the Ed Hardy Vintage Tattoo brand has been
making its mark in fashion with shoppers and trendsetting celebrities
world wide.
"We are honored to sponsor and help participate in such an exciting, fashion-oriented
event. John Robert Powers always has an eye in spotting trends in the fashion
and entertainment world and this is a great opportunity to show support," states
Ron Patterson, CEO and President of John Robert Powers.
Nathan Fuja, Vice President of Marketing says that, "Christian
understands sex appeal, celebrity, and style. With the Ed Hardy
clothing line, he has successfully mixed these three elements
into something that when you see it, you want it. This is just
the start of Christian's fashion revolution."

After
competing is the Miss Universe Pageant, Karina Buttner, Miss
Paraguay, enrolled at JRP Fort Worth and recently attended
the International Presentation of Performers (iPOP!). At the
iPOP!, Karina came
in 1st Runner Up for International Agents Choice and received
callbacks from modeling agencies all over the world!
Mr. Ron Patterson, President
John Robert Powers
Dear Ron,
I wish to personally thank you for a marvelous experience via the iPOP (International Presentation of Performers) event held in Los Angeles, January 2008. My 12 year old daughter, Lilly Abraham has signed with David Schember and Jackie Lewis at Diverse Talent Group and has a resourceful manager, April Mills of Mills Management in Los Angeles. We will be relocating to Sherman Oaks, CA from Scottsdale, AZ within the next two weeks. All of this has taken place thanks to your iPOP event and the unyielding support from Claude Hart at JRP Southwest. It was an absolute pleasure meeting Suzanne Von Schaack, as well and she kindly selected Lilly to participate in the Grease finale showcase.
In fact, I was so impressed by our overall experience that I would embrace the opportunity to promote it professionally on your behalf within the John Robert Powers organization. Your philanthropic support of Yiyi McManus illustrates yet another impressive aspect of the John Robert Powers franchise and iPOP philosophy to assist young performers to succeed in a challenging industry.
We participated in a similar event with IMTA a few years ago, but the experience was not the same caliber as iPOP.
It would be an honor and pleasure to meet with you in person if possible. I will be flying to Los Angeles next week to finalize our living arrangements, school enrollment for Lilly and employment for myself. Thanking you in advance.
Warm regards,
Holly Fitch
